Bitter cold may be responsible for Two St. Louis deaths
For the second time in two weeks, a homeless man has been found dead during a bitter cold snap in St. Louis.
Police say a homeless 54-year-old man was found Monday inside a trash bin near an apartment complex. Firefighters on an unrelated call found the victim. His name was not immediately released.
An autopsy is planned. The temperature on Monday dipped to minus 6 degrees (-21 Celsius).
St. Louis and much of the Midwest has been under a deep freeze in recent weeks, and the extreme cold may have been responsible for at least two deaths. On Dec. 20, 56-year-old Grover Perry, a homeless man, was found dead inside a portable toilet in downtown St. Louis, where he had been living. Autopsy results are not yet complete.
