Debate Over "Prevailing Wage" Reaches State Legislature
ST. LOUIS —
Bills in the Missouri State Legislature could either kill or lower the so-called "prevailing wage", a minimum wage set for workers on state-funded public works construction projects.
Tim Wies and Walter Bazan, Jr. are two area contractors who are defending the wage, saying that lowering or eliminating it will negatively impact their workers and weaken the quality of employees and work that goes into state projects like highway or bridge construction.
