Final Word: Propaganda Tools
ST. LOUIS —
Quite a few national mainstream media news outlets seemed to sing the praises of the sister of North Korea's brutal dictator Kim Jong Un, who attended the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Pyeonchang, South Korea.
After South Korea's president inexplicably agreed to allow athletes from his country to march with North Korea's athletes as a "unified" Korea, the media glowed about the regime, which is known for its murderous rule fueled by propaganda, and its "diplomatic win" at the games. Vice-President Mike Pence, attending the ceremony with Fred Warmbier, the father of American Otto Warmbier (recently imprisoned and sentenced to more than a decade in one of North Korea's brutal prison camps who later died mysteriously after he was finally returned) was actually given some criticism at the expense of Kim Yo Jong, Un's sister who is also the director of the country's "Propaganda and Agitation Department".
Headlines and tweets from NBC, CNN, the Washington Post, and the New York Times all seemed to swoon for Jong, giving her props for her icy look towards Pence, who not only shunned her, but did not stand for the "unified" Korean delegation. It seems to be the cherry on top after a year of the majority of the mainstream media's endless attack of everything President Trump, even to the extent of praising his enemies, no matter how vile and evil they may be.
