ABC News: 3 Democrat Senators Up For Re-Election Decline W.H. Invite To SCOTUS Reveal
WASHINGTON, D.C. —
ABC News is reporting that three Democrat Senators who are facing re-election in states considered to be conservative or "swing states" have turned down an invitation to the White House Monday night for President Trump's announcement of who he is nominating to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Earlier in the day, Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey, another Democrat facing re-election this year sent out a release stating that he planned to vote against Trump's nominee, hours before the president had settled on who that person would be.
Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill, also a Democrat, has not said much about the potential nominee. McCaskill is in her second re-election campaign against Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley, who started TV ads Monday against her over the pick.
Trump will announce his nominee to fill the soon-to-be vacated seat on the nation's highest court tonight at 8 PM (9 PM Eastern Time). You can watch that announcement on ABC 30 St. Louis KDNL.
