St. Louis Police Chief Out: Was it a Political Move?
St. Louis —
St. Louis' top cop is out. Mayor Lyda Krewson announced Sam Dotson's retirement Wednesday, just one day after she was sworn into office.
Dotson had previously said that he loved being chief and would not be stepping down after he dropped out of the mayor's race. Deputy Chief Lawrence O'Toole will serve as Interim Police Chief while the city searches for Dotson's replacement.
So was it politics, or did Dotson want to retire? Andy Devine talked to Mayor Krewson and Jeff Roorda from the St. Louis Police Officers Association about the move.
