2018 Dodge Durango SRT delivers ‘wicked fast’ performance to full-size SUV segment

I get it. There may come a time in your life where you actually need to participate in carpool. But fortunately, this doesn't mean you have to consign yourself to boring vehicles. Dodge has just released specs and photos of its 2018 Durango SRT -- the most powerful 3-row SUV. Period.

The Durango SRT, which will be officially revealed this week at the Chicago Auto Show, will come equipped with a Hemi V-8 engine that delivers 475 horsepower. We’re looking at quarter-mile times of 12.9 seconds and a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.4 seconds.

Yeah, in a 6-passenger, 5,510-pound vehicle.

“The new 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is America’s fastest, most powerful and most capable three-row SUV,” said Tim Kuniskis, head of passenger car brands for Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat, in a press release. “This is what you get, when you take everything great about the Durango and combine it with the performance of the Charger SRT: a 12-second quarter mile, toy-hauling, three-row muscle car.”

In addition exceptional performance numbers, the Durango SRT boasts a best-in-class towing capability of 8,600 pounds.

Durango SRT will come equipped as a four-wheel drive model with the TorqueFlight 8-speed automatic transmission. It will also have the new SRT 7-mode drive system with the following modes: Auto, Sport, Track, Snow, Tow, Valet and ECO.

Even better news: Since this is an SRT product, the purchase price includes a one-day session of high-performance instruction at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona.
